About Shield4Dentists Project
This is a project by IMADE3D, a rural Virginia based 3D printing and education company. IMADE3D is the creator of the multiple award-winning open source educational 3D printer JellyBOX.
When the COVID came, we used our 3D design and rapid-manufacturing expertise to make custom PPEs (personal protective equipment) like elbow door openers and protective face shields for local libraries, government buildings, and hospitals.
Shield4Dentists started when we were approached by a local dentist to modify our word-of-mouth popular face shield to accommodate his glasses and loupe.
Fifteen prototypes and four months of testing and feedback later, we feel we have something special and we’re very excited to share it with you.
The shields come in "sets" because the visors and padding wear over out over time. These shields are sturdy and re-usable, but in is often benefecial to have spare visors and padding when used daily with frequent disinfecting. You can replace the visor or padding whenever it's convenient and then batch-disinfect the parts without a pause in protection. Also, the visors will scratch with frequent use and may need to be replaced for optimal clarity.
What is the Frame made out of?
The Frame is made out of PETG, modified PET, just like the optically clear visor. PETG is very stable and chemically resistant thermoplastic which can be easily disinfected.

- You have 30 days from the date of delivery to return items for a full refund if the item is defective, damaged, or we sent you an incorrect product.
- We pay the shipping cost of the return as well - we feel that, under these circumstances, we bear the responsibility for your return.
- You must obtain a Returned Merchandise Authorization (RMA) before returning an item by contacting us via email or phone.
- When returning an item for an exchange, the returned item must be received by FilamentBuy before a replacement item is shipped out. If you need the item sooner than that, you are welcome to purchase a replacement to be shipped out immediately. You will then be reimbursed once we receive the returned item.
- Orders that are cancelled by the customer after they have shipped may be returned to us for a refund minus any applicable shipping charges related to the cancelled order. In the case that a package is lost in transit we do our best to help you track it down, but, once the package is in transit, the responsibility lies with the carrier (e.g., UPS, USPS).
- We are not responsible for any customs, duties, taxes, or import fees incurred in the shipment of items or replacement parts to other countries. If the customer elects to abandon their shipment in lieu of paying customs, taxes, or import fees on their order or returning the item(s) to us, no refund will be given.
